A 55-YEAR-OLD grew an 180cm cannabis plant so that he could use the drug to help with pain relief.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court, Peter James LePage pleaded guilty to producing drugs and posessing drug utensils.

LePage was charged after police searched his Booval home on March 29 and found the plant and a water pipe.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said LePage told police he had grown the plant from a seed.

Defence lawyer Dylan Hans said LePage suffered a medical condition and that his client smoked cannabis as a way to relieve his chronic pain.

Mr Hans said the plant was grown strictly for his client's personal use.

LePage was fined $300 and the plant forfeited.

No convictions were recorded. If you want the right to grow your own cannabis and to be able to obtain cannabis legally here in Australia then please SHARE. #BringBackCannabisMedicine
