Parents to share stories at Nimbin medical cannabis workshop

A medical cannabis workshop in Nimbin on Saturday will hear from a number of parents who are using cannabis to help their children battle debilitating illnesses. The workshop, being organised by the Nimbin Hemp Embassy, will being at 11am in the Nimbin Town Hall. HEMP president Michael Balderstone said a big crowd was expected at the workshop, which would be a bit different in that many medical cannabis users wanted time to tell their healing stories. ‘It is a good opportunity to ask questions and meet people who have been involved with mediweed for decades,’ Mr Balderstone said. ‘Dr Andrew Katelaris is coming up from Sydney again, Tony Bower from Mullaways Medical Cannabis will also be here and several other medicine makers happy to share their knowledge.” ‘We keep getting visitors who think medical cannabis is legal now as the media reports do sound like that. It is not and people continue to get busted daily…in fact more than ever before. ‘The government’s plan is to licence some growers and manufacturers and after a doctor has prescribed it you can get it from your local chemist. Sound familiar? ‘HEMP Party secretary Andrew Kavasilas will fill us in on the reality and latest from the government.” ‘A special guest is Michael Lambert who will be speaking about growing pot to stop his five-year-old daughters seizures. ‘Christine Sorensen will speak on treating her cerebral palsy daughter, Michele Robertson on treating chronic pain and several speakers on their successful treatment of cancer. ‘We’re discovering that cannabis has such strong anti-cancer properties that it makes total sense why the plant is illegal.
