(Instagram) Celebrity chef Pete Evans is no stranger to controversy, and this week he again raised eyebrows after admitting he'd rather his kids 'have cannabis' than drink alcohol when they're of age. The My Kitchen Rules star made the surprising admission on Instagram yesterday when asked by a follower how he would feel if his daughters smoked weed, given his pro-cannabis stance. "They are fully aware of what I do and stand for," replied Evans, who is dad to Chilli, 14, and Indii, 11. "They know I have taken many different forms of medicines and drugs in the past. We have open and honest discussions about it so they are educated on the topic. Nothing is off the table for discussion. I would much prefer them when they are of an age to have cannabis over alcohol 1000 per cent."
The topic of cannabis was top of mind for Evans since he appeared as a guest reporter on Sunday Night at the weekend. In his comprehensive report, the MKR chef weighed up the pros and cons of the drug and in the process found himself in the firing line.
"Once again bringing cannabis into the spotlight, so that has to be a good thing as it creates awareness and much needed conversation about this plant," he wrote on Instagram. "I can't help but think this is Groundhog Day again... First paleo, then cannabis."

Indeed, Evans has been targeted by trolls in the past over his take on the controversial paleo diet. In 2015, he co-authored a book featuring paleo recipes for babies, which was dumped by its publisher, then in 2017 he narrated and produced a Netflix documentary that claimed the ketogenic diet could cure asthma and autism.
