New research from the University of Sydney’s Lambert Initiative has revealed that cannabinol (CBN), a non-intoxicating cannabis compound, enhances sleep by increasing both REM and non-REM sleep in rats. The study, published in Neuropsychopharmacology, offers the first objective evidence of CBN’s sleep-promoting effects. Unlike THC, CBN does not cause intoxication, making it a promising sleep aid. Human trials are now underway to explore its potential for treating sleep disorders.
